This photograph shows the sanctuary of DeWitt Community Church in DeWitt, NY, when decorated for its traditional Christmas Eve midnight service. When I was a youngster, one of my family's Christmas rituals involved opening our gifts at home and then going to worship and celebrate the holiest night of the year with our friends and neighbors at this service. I was confirmed and married in this church and served it as an altar boy, basketball coach, and as a Sunday School teacher. It is no wonder that it remains the focus of so many wonderful memories for me.
